Snowdrops, or Galanthus to give them their correct name, are the classic winter flowering plant, loved by everyone. When the snowdrops flower can spring be far behind? Flower between January and March. They are extraordinarily hardy and can be depended on to flower very early whatever the weather - the colder and gloomier it is, the longer the blooms last, but in a sunny warm season they are comparatively fleeting, so always plant in light shade. They grow in most soils, but make the best plants in heavier moist soils. They are fully hardy and even have especially hardened tips to push through snow. The best way to plant is to do so ' in the green' as they will establish themselves quicker and you can see the effect as you plant.Plant bulbs approx. 6cm deep in small clumps of 6 - 12. When the clumps become dense, lift and separate after flowering whilst still in leaf. Flowers between January and March. Snowdrops like a moist soil with plenty of humus. They do not like hot, dry positions preferring part shade. They are good among shrubs. These quality Snowdrops will be available from end of February ( weather permitting) you will be kept fully informed as to the progress of your order.
